BATON ROUGE- Police say drugs were the motive for a robbery and shooting in Baton Rouge Saturday night off of Brightside Drive.
Cpl. Thomas Stubbs with the Baton Rouge Police Department said the victims had an arranged drug deal with the suspects and when the suspects arrived they proceeded to rob the victims.
The two suspects entered the victim's house on Arialo Street, then got into a scuffle with one of the people inside, detectives said.
That's when a gun went off and shot one of the would-be burglars, according to police. The two fled, but were caught in Baker.
Chauncy Carter, 32, of Zachary was arrested. The other suspect that was shot remains in critical condition.
No more arrests are expected.
