BRPD: Driver was heading to hospital before crash
BATON ROUGE - Police said a Port Allen man was on his way to a Baton Rouge hospital for chest pains when he lost control of his pickup and crashed, causing a four-way wreck.
Cpl. L'Jean McKneely said Ralph Jackson, 60, died shortly after crashing in the 5000 block of Essen Lane around 11 a.m., near the entrance to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital.
McKneely said Jackson was headed there because of extreme chest pains before he lost control of his truck. It crossed into the oncoming lane, hitting another pickup. That truck knocked a third off the road, hitting a fourth pickup stopped on Margaret Ann.
McKneely said two other people were taken to OLOL with minor injuries. The wreck is still under investigation.
