BATON ROUGE - A one-year-old child is recovering after being ejected from a vehicle in an interstate wreck this morning, according to Baton Rouge Police.
Cpl. L'Jean McKneely said in all, three vehicles were involved and eight people taken to local hospitals because of the wreck around 8:30 a.m. on I-12 near Essen Lane.
McKneely said an SUV was going north on I-10 and entered the I-12 eastbound entrance lane when its driver lost control of the vehicle. The SUV went into the median where it went airborne, crossing into eastbound traffic and hitting two other vehicles that were going east.
According to investigators, a one-year-old boy was ejected from the SUV and taken to a local hospital with severe injuries. They also said the boy and the other people in the SUV weren't wearing seatbelts.
McKneely said charges are pending against the SUV's driver, and that the investigation is ongoing.
