BRPD: 36-year-old raped teen at Baton Rouge hotel
BATON ROUGE – Police say a Baton Rouge man was arrested Monday for raping a 16-year-old in May.
Baton Rouge Police charged 36-year-old Damien Thompson Monday after investigators said he raped a girl at a hotel in May.
Investigators say the victim was in town with family and was at a hotel watching her 8-year-old niece while her sister and brother-in-law went to a wedding.
The victim told police that she stepped out of the room to make a phone call while her niece was taking a bath. When she was done with her call, she told BRPD that Thompson followed her into the room and raped her.
Police said she did not yell because she did not want something to happen to her niece in the other room.
The victim told investigators she did not know the attacker and was transported to a local hospital for a sexual assault examination.
On June 24th, Baton Rouge Police said the DNA collected from the rape kit matched Thompson’s DNA in a DNA database. Police said they arranged a photo lineup and the victim identified Thompson as her attacker.
