BATON ROUGE - Baton Rouge Police are searching for the suspected killer of a 16-year-old boy who family members said was in the process of making a big change in his life.
Police said the shooting happened Monday, Jan. 13 on St. Joseph Street in Old South Baton Rouge. Patrick Williams was inside his own grandmother's house, sitting on the couch when the shooting happened.
Police said late Thursday theyr'e searching for the victim's cousin, Devon Bowie. They said Bowie, 19, shot Williams after a confrontation stemming from an ongoing dispute.
Family members said Williams was in the process of packing up his grandmother's things so the two of them could move out of the neighborhood.
Corine Stewart showed News 2 the place on her sofa where her grandson was gunned down Monday morning. She came home from the doctor to see all the police activity and knew something terrible had happened inside her house.
"When I come back I saw all the stuff around my house," Stewart said. "They said somebody got shot."
She soon found out that the "somebody" was her grandson. Stewart said the can't bear to bring the items with her to her new home in Prairieville anymore.
"Because I don't want it," Stewart said while fighting through tears. "My grandson was killed in here."
