Bridge renaming for Trevor Sims approved
BATON ROUGE - Metro Council members approved a measure Wednesday night to rename an East Baton Rouge Parish bridge in honor of Trevor Sims, a terminally-ill boy who fought hunger in the parish before his death.
The council voted unanimously to rename the North Boulevard Bridge the Trevor Sims Memorial Bridge.
Sims died last month of cancer. Before his death he wished to do what he could to help feed the hungry, something he and his family had to face in the past.
The bridge overlooks the St. Vincent de Paul dining facility for the homeless.
