Bridge Jumper Survives
A high school student visiting the Golden Gate Bridge on a field trip jumped off, possibly on a dare, and survived a 200 foot fall that kills dozens of people each year. the 17-year-old had nothing but bruises and tenderness and was rescued by a nearby surfer who paddled him to shore. The boy was from Windsor High School in Sonoma County and school leaders say they don't believe the unidentified teen tried to commit suicide. Someone jumps off the bridge an average of once every two weeks. Last year, 32 jumpers died. Since the bridge opened in 1937, more than 15-hundred people have died.
