BRG provides update on explosion patients
BATON ROUGE - Medical personnel at Baton Rouge General - Mid City said in a press conference Friday that they have seen a total of 19 patients since yesterday's deadly plant explosion in Geismar.
Chief medical officer Dr. Flip Roberts said that four of the patients are being treated inside the hospital's Regional Burn Center.
Two of the victims are in serious and critical condition, while two others are in fair condition.
Officials still have not released the identities of the patients.
77 people were injured during a chemical blast at the Williams Olefins plant.
29-year-old Zachary Green died in the explosion. He worked there as a plant operator.
Other victims were transported to Our Lady of the Lake and Ochsner Medical Center in Baton Rouge, and St. Elizabeth Hospital in Gonzales.
