BRFD investigating house fires on Matilda

BATON ROUGE - Fire crews are looking for clues on what started a vacant house fire that led to multiple house fires on Matilda Street near South 17th Street Thursday morning.

Multiple fire units responded to the call of a house fire on the 1600 block of Matilda around 6 a.m. When Baton Rouge firefighters arrived on the scene, two houses were in flames. The third house was partially burned and the the fourth had heat damage.

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control before 8 a.m. Two of the four houses were a total loss while the third house had heavy fire and smoke damage.

No injuries have been reported.
