BREC to host Coaches Challenge Field Day Event
BATON ROUGE - High school athletes from East Baton Rouge Parish will have a chance to win prize money for their school as they compete in BREC's Coaches Challenge Field Day Event next Saturday.
The event was created by BREC to provide school sports teams with an opportunity to show off their physical skills and win prize money to go toward equipment and other expenses for the coming year.
Teams will represent their schools and compete in sports including volleyball, baseball, cross country, football and basketball as they vie for the grand prize, a $500 Red Stick Sports gift card.
The day of athletic challenges also includes traditional field day contests including tug of war, wheel barrow race, egg and spoon relay, water balloon toss and an obstacle course.
An area with inflatables and table games will be set up to entertain younger kids during the competition and concessions will be available for purchase.
The free event will be held in Olympia Stadium at 7211 Perkins Road on Saturday, Aug. 16 from 9 a.m. to noon.
For more information on the event, call (225) 272-9200, ext. 400 or visit BREC's website.
