BREC on the Geaux
BATON ROUGE- Spring break is right around the corner and BREC wants to make sure your child enjoys their time off.
BREC on the Geaux offers kids a fun and safe way to have fun and exercise. The program has two trucks that will travel across East Baton Rouge parish, bringing recreational activities to kids.
This morning on 2une In we talked to Cheryl Michelet and Diane Drake from BREC.
"We go into play deserts, which are areas that don't have a playground nearby or one that's safe to walk to, and we bring the play to them," said Michelet.
The mobile recreation activities include agility and fitness games such as relay challenges, electronic fitness games, sports drills, and many more.
"The goal is to give them a really fun time, so they're having so much fun they don't realize they're moving and exercising," Michelet told News 2's Rebecca Buchanan.
The program is a great experience for kids that aren't able to play and exercise on a daily basis.
"We want to give them safe supervised structured activity that allows them to have fun and get physically fit at the same time," said Drake.
For more information about the program and a list of the designated stops you can visit the BREC website.
