Breaux Bridge tow truck driver dies in hit-and-run
BREAUX BRIDGE, La. - Authorities say a Louisiana tow truck operator has died and a Texas man charged with vehicular homicide following an early morning hit-and-run crash on Interstate 10 near Breaux Bridge.
The Advertiser reports that Louisiana State Police say the incident happened at 2:23 a.m. Sunday when 25-year-old Blaze Louviere of Breaux Bridge was standing on the shoulder of I-10.
He was attempting to remove a disabled vehicle.
Troopers say Louviere's tow truck was equipped with the proper yellow strobe overhead light bar.
A 2000 GMC Yukon, driven by a man from Mission, Texas, was approaching Louviere. For reasons under investigation, Molina struck Louviere and fled the scene.
Witnesses followed the driver into the Breaux Bridge city limits, where Breaux Bridge police officers took him into custody.
