BRAVE Unit reports 11 narcotics arrests in 2 days
BATON ROUGE - The Baton Rouge Police BRAVE Unit reported 11 arrests in addition the seizure of narcotics, guns and cash during follow up investigations and patrols in Baton Rouge.
On Tuesday, the BRAVE Unit began a follow up investigation of the first of two residences in the 1000 block of N. 48th St. and made the following arrests:
- Tamara Cooper, 33, of 5239 McClelland Dr.
- Ashley Smith, 39, of 1113 N. 48th St.
- Melvin Smith, 30, of 2370 Balis Dr. #8
- Anthony Rucker, 45, of 4546 North St. #5321
- Marvin Byrd, 54, of 2085 Goudchaux St.
During the search, narcotics agents seized marijuana, crack cocaine and cash.
On the following day, the unit conducted a follow up investigation of the second house on N. 48th St.and seized powder cocaine, marijuana, prescription drugs, cash and a pistol. Nicholas Byrd, 23, of 1089 N. 48th St. and Caletha Black, 29, of 2349 Edgewood Dr. were arrested as a result of Wednesday's investigation.
On Wednesday afternoon, agents conducted proactive patrols in the Baton Rouge city limits and reported the seizure of marijuana and another firearm. The BRAVE Unit patrols accounted for three more arrests on Aug. 6:
- Amos Dorsey 30 of 15360 Russell Ln., Glenn LA
- Dilton Anderson 20 of 7554 Scenic Hwy
- Jacque Bellard 20 of 2233 Georgia St.
All of the individuals arrested during the investigations and patrols were booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on drug charges.
