BRAVE opens new offices in Baton Rouge
BATON ROUGE - The BRAVE policing unit in Baton Rouge formally announced its expansion into a different part of the city-parish Thursday.
District Attorney Hillar Moore and other law enforcement and civic personnel said the BRAVE unit has moved their community policing efforts into the 70802 ZIP code in the southern part of the parish.
The announcement was made at a ribbon-cutting for the unit's new offices at the Family and Youth Services Center on Government Street.
BRAVE has been working in north Baton Rouge to reduce violent crime through direct community interaction and intervention. The group is credited with reducing the murder in Baton Rouge by 26 percent in 2013.
