BATON ROUGE - Authorities in Louisiana said a joint effort between U. S. and Canadian law enforcement led to the arrest of a Baton Rouge man on charges of sexual exploitation of children.

Investigators arrested Matthew Chaney Walker, 24, after they said a search of his home turned up dozens of pieces of child pornography and other evidence.

The Louisiana Attorney General's Office said Walker came onto their Cyber Crime Unit's radar after a heads-up from multiple Internet Crimes Against Children affiliates. Their search warrant turned up multiple images depicting children younger than 13 engaged in sexual acts or posed in sexual ways, according to Louisiana Attorney General Buddy Caldwell.

"As a result of our partnerships with law enforcement affiliates across North America, we were able to put a parent's worst nightmare behind bars," he said.

Officers booked Walker into the East Baton Rouge Parish jail on the following charges:

* Extortion and indecent behavior with a juvenile - 3 counts each
* Producing and distributing pornography involving juveniles - 2 counts each
* Possessing child pornography - 50 counts
* Computer-aided solicitation of a minor - 1 count

Caldwell said the joint investigation involved agents from the Louisiana Attorney General's Cyber Crime Unit, Louisiana State Police, East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office, Baton Rouge Police Department, Cheatham County Sheriff's Department (Tennessee), Naperville Police Department (Illinois), U.S. Homeland Security Investigations, Federal Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Secret Service, Homeland Security Investigations (Canada) and the Peterborough Lakefield Community Police Department (Canada).

To report suspected cases of internet crime to the AG's Cyber Crime Unit call 1-800-256-4506.
