BR man accused of kidnapping woman, two kids
Authorities in Baton Rouge have found and arrested a man accused of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend and trying to get her to drop charges she had filed against him.
30-year-old Chaddrick Byron Piper was arrested late Wednesday night after an extensive search that started around 4 p.m. when deputies at the downtown courthouse said they met a woman who claimed Piper had kidnapped her.
She said Piper had come to her house with a box cutter and took her and their two juvenile children to the courthouse, demanding she drop charges and an Order of Protection against him. When they got to the courthouse, she notified deputies and Piper fled on foot.
East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Deputies, along with the U. S. Marshals Service, said they later located Piper at a relative’s house in Baton Rouge. He was booked for three counts of kidnapping, violating the protection order, and other charges.
The Sheriff’s Office also said the Baton Rouge Police, Constable’s Office, EBR District Attorney’s Office, and Clerk of Court also assisted in locating and arresting the suspect and keeping the victims safe after their abduction.
