BATON ROUGE - Detectives are looking to identify a man behind the armed robbery of a Government Street convenience store that happened in the early morning hours of Tuesday.

Police said a male suspect entered the business, located in the 5300 block of Government Street, at around 2:45 a.m. and posed as a customer while approaching the front counter. The man then pulled a gun from his waistband and pointed it at the cashier.

After he obtained an undisclosed amount of cash, the man grabbed the merchandise he had brought to the counter and fled the business. He was last seen getting into a silver mid-size sport utility vehicle, according to investigators.

No injuries were reported in connection with the armed robbery.

Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect is urged to contact the BRPD Armed Robbery Division at 225-389-3845.

It’s the second time in just a few days that a Circle K convenience store in the Baton Rouge area has been the target of an armed robbery. A pair of suspects are wanted in connection with a robbery that happened at the Circle K at the corner of Highland and Lee on Sunday morning.
