Boyfriend arrested in burning death of 2-year-old
OBERLIN - Authorities in Allen Parish are investigating the death of a 2-year-old child who died of apparent third-degree burns to her back.
The American Press reports deputies were called to the Allen Parish Hospital in Kinder Thursday after the child was brought into the emergency room by her mother.
Sheriff Doug Hebert III said the child was dead on arrival and hospital officials were suspicious of the circumstances surrounding her death after noticing burn marks on her back.
Hebert III says deputies searched the child's home and seized two electric heaters with springs matching the burn mark patterns on the child's back.
The mother's live-in boyfriend, 29-year-old Bobby Davis Jr., was arrested booked with aggravated battery.
The sheriff says the charge may be upgraded pending an official cause of death.
