Wrecks involving Bossier City employees cost the city nearly $1 million in the last five years.
Many of those accidents -- including a 2006 head-on collision that resulted in a $240,000 payout -- involved the city's police department.
Not all of the money, though, was paid out of Bossier City coffers -- a portion was covered by insurance carriers.
While accidents topped the list of expenses, the city also paid out $15,932 for slip and fall accidents, $35,522 for rock and lawn mower damage, and $45,890 for sewer backups and similar utility
problems.
In all, Bossier City has paid out at least $1.7 million from 2005 to 2009.
