BATON ROUGE – A set of bones found at a Baton Rouge construction site this morning could belong to a human and have been there for more than 50 years, according to investigators.
Cpl. L’Jean McKneely with Baton Rouge Police said crews were tearing down a building at 5th and Main downtown when workers came across the bones.
Investigators with the LSU FACES lab were called out to test the bones to see if they are human remains or not. They told News 2 that they did appear to be a set of partial human remains, and had likely been in the location for more than 50 years.
The investigators also said the bones appeared to have some sort of markings from medical tools on them, such as from an autopsy or other medical procedure.
News 2 crews are on the scene and will have the latest at noon.
