BATON ROUGE - The state Bond Commission gave the go-ahead today for millions of dollars in projects around the state, including $10 million for infrastructure in Zachary.
Treasury Secretary John Kennedy said the commission approved $145 million on bonds to finance state construction projects. He said they also saved $898,000 by refinancing existing public debt in five parishes.
In Zachary, the approved bonds will finance new roads, drainage, traffic signal work, landscaping and sidewalks.
The commission also approved $25 million for upgrades to cancer equipment and renovations or expansions to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Centers in East Baton Rouge, St. Tammany and Tangipahoa Parishes.
