Bomb squad blows up suspicious package
BATON ROUGE - Authorities said bomb squad members chose to destroy a suspcious package found Tuesday on the levee under the new Mississippi River bridge.
Cpl. L'Jean McKneely said the bomb squad elected to blow up the package, which was found around noon.
This comes a day after a suspicious letter caused authorities to evacuate the third floor of the district courthouse in Baton Rouge. A white powder with the letter was tested and found to be harmless.
There is no indication at this time that the incidents are related.
