Boldly going where no one has gone before
INDIAN TRAIL, NORTH CAROLINA- Language from the Star Trek TV shows and movies is now part of the political lore in the small town of Indian Trail after a town councilman resigned.
David Waddell used the Klingon language to write his letter of resignation.
Waddell says he used Klingon, the language of a warrior race in the franchise, as an inside joke. But the mayor called it unprofessional.
Waddell is leaving at the end of this month even though his term doesn't expire for another year.
He says he needs to devote more time to mounting a write-in campaign to defeat U.S. Senator Kay Hagan of North Carolina.
Waddell is a member of the Constitution Party.
