Boil advisory issued for some in Donaldsonville
DONALDSONVILLE - Officials with the Peoples Water Service Company in Donaldsonville issued a boil order Monday for some of their customers after an incident this weekend.
A company spokesperson said a contractor broke a main water line Sunday on LA 1 South in Donaldsonville. The water main was repaired Sunday, but the integrity of the water's quality was compromised.
The boil order is for people and businesses along LA 1 South until further notice. The company recommended all water be decontaminated before it is consumed, including fountain drinks, ice, brushing teeth or before use in food preparation.
Water must be boiled in a clean container for one full minute after it is brought to a rolling boil. Any flat taste can be countered by pouring the water from one clean container to another, or adding a pinch of salt for every pint of water boiled.
The water company said they will rescind the order once the Department of Health and Hospitals gives the all-clear.
