Body of missing woman found in river
NEW ROADS - Point Coupee Parish deputies have positively identified a body found in False River as a missing nursing home resident with dementia.
Investigators found the body of Isla Lazare in the river. Deputies suspect drowning as the cause of death.
On March 27, Lazare went missing from the Lakeview Manor Nursing Home in New Roads. Nursing home employees said Lazare went out to smoke a cigarette around 10 p.m. and never returned.
Deputies are still investigating how Lazare went missing in the first place.
