Body of missing Denham Springs boater found
GRAND RIVER - Department of Wildlife and Fisheries agents report the body of a missing boater from Denham Springs has been recovered roughly nine miles downstream from where he fell into the Upper Grand River on May 1.
The body of 61-year-old James Haley was found in Iberville Parish, about 12 miles south of Plaquemine, near the Bayou Sorrel Locks in the Intracoastal Waterway at 10:15 a.m. Thursday, according to Adam Einck of LDWF.
Haley was last seen around 10:30 p.m. on May 1 when he surfaced twice after falling into the water as he attempted to step into a boat from the deck of a houseboat.
Wildlife and Fisheries strike force agents, Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office deputies and dive team agents from East Baton Rouge Parish searched during the daylight hours of every day following the man's disappearance at the beginning of the month until the discovery of his remains today.
