BATON ROUGE- Authorities are on the scene where a body was found Monday morning.

The Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office said the body of a white male was found near LA 1 on Hwy. 1148 across from Dow Chemical near Plaquemine.

Iberville Parish Chief Operating Officer Aubrey St. Angelo says the man was discovered lying face down in a ditch which contained water.

Chief St. Angelo adds that the Sheriff's office received a call about a man staggering in the middle of the roadway around 2 am this morning and they suspect this could be the same individual.

No foul play is evident at this time but a crime investigation unit is headed to the scene.
