NEW ORLEANS- The body of a woman found in Lake Pontchartrain near the Bonnet Carre Spillway on May 4 has been identified, according to NOPD.

The woman identified is 88-year-old Estelle Webb who had been missing from her Heaton Street home in New Orleans since Apr. 28.

The Louisiana State Police laboratory positively matched DNA from the body to DNA from personal items of Webb.

Workers with the CN Railroad notified St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office deputies when they found the body in May.

Webb was missing since midday on Apr. 28 and was officially reported missing by family on May 6, two days after the body was found near the spillway.

At the time of the missing person report, NOPD said they were searching for Webb's vehicle.

They were also seeking a person of interest at the same time who may have been driving Webb. At the time of the search, police said the Webb may have been harmed or injured.
