SORRENTO, La. - Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office detectives are investigating a homicide that occurred Friday night on LV Road in Sorrento, according to Chief Deputy Tony Bacala.

Bacala says the Sheriff's Office received a call at 7:53 a.m. from an individual who said that there was a person on the side of the road that appeared to have been shot.

Bacala said that the victim, who has not been identified, is a black male who appears to be in his 20s or 30s and who is approximately 6' to 6'2" tall and weighing about 220 pounds.

The victim was wearing a white long sleeve pull over shirt, loose fitting designer jeans and white tennis shoes. He also has a clean shaven face and head.

Detectives canvassed the area and located several people who indicated that they heard gunshots between 3:30 and 4:30 a.m., according to Bacala.
