Body found in river believed to be bridge jumper
HAHNVILLE - Sheriff's deputies reported that a body found in the Mississippi River this morning is believed to be a man that led authorities on a high-speed chase before jumping off a Gramercy bridge last week.
St. Charles Parish Sheriff Greg Champagne said the Valero Refinery workers found a body believed to be Kylan Laurent floating near their dock. Security workers secured the body, which was later recovered by workers at the Port of South Louisiana.
Detectives from Kenner made the preliminary identification, and the body was taken to the coroner's office to get a more conclusive ID.
Laurent was wanted in connection with a string of crimes in Baton Rouge and Jefferson Parish, including murder and false imprisonment.
