Body found in pond near Harvey shopping complex
HARVEY - Sheriff’s deputies in Jefferson Parish say they found a body in a pond at a business complex in Harvey Thursday afternoon.
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office says the body was a fully clothed man. They have not yet released information about how long the man’s body was in the water of the complex, but they believe it could belong to a Hispanic man reported missing on Tuesday. The man was reported missing by friends in nearby Terrytown, according to detectives.
A construction worker at a nearby site said he saw what looked like a bag floating in the pond on Monday. A property manager saw what looked like a jacket nearby on Thursday afternoon and contacted authorities, which led to the discovery of the body.
