OPELOUSAS - More areas in the Atchafalaya Basin are being reopened to boaters as record flooding recedes.
Authorities in St. Landry Parish announced that all boat launches at Bayou Darbonne and the Grimmett Canal will be opened today.
Sheriff's deputies are asking boaters to be careful since there is still a higher-than-usual amount of water still in that area. They said the wakes could disturb occupied residences near the water if boaters aren't careful.
Anyone with questions and concerns can call the parish Emergency Operations Center at (337) 948-7177.
