Blakeney stars in No. 21 LSU's 81-70 win over McNeese State
Antonio Blakeney had 22 points and 11 rebounds, and fellow freshman Ben Simmons added 11 points, 13 rebounds and five assists in No. 21 LSU's 81-70 victory over McNeese State on Friday night in the opener for both teams.
Brandon Sampson, the third member of the Tigers' highly rated freshman class, had 18 points.
Jamaya Burr led McNeese State with 18 points, and Craig McFerrin had 12 points and 13 rebounds.
The announced crowd of 11,697 was LSU's largest in a home opener since Nov. 22, 1991 (13,113 vs. Northeast Louisiana)
It was the largest crowd for a LSU home opener since Shaq's swan song watched the Tigers beat McNeese State, 81-70, on Friday night.
LSU (1-0) scored the first 20 points of the second half to extend a 14 point advantage to 34 in less than seven minutes.
