Black Friday shoppers supporting Gonzales
GONZALES - Black Friday shoppers avoided the crazy crowds and helped Gonzales grow at the same time.
"We went last night to Walmart and it was packed but since we got here it was ok I guess. I like this better," said Lamaria Phillips at Tanger Outlet Mall.
Phillips says here she can get big name brands like Polo on sale, and still bring her little sister for family time. They got their nails polished and were headed to the toy store to pick out presents.
Kaci Daigle said the trip from West Baton Rouge was worth it.
"They still have good sales going on. We didn't do the early shopping, we wanted to skip the crazies and come out to Tanger where it's a little more calm. It took about ten minutes to park, so that was a little crowded, but I mean it's not bad," she said.
The people shopping here are helping the city of Gonzales grow, every time they hit a big sale. The one percent sales tax they pay here, pays for improvements like new stores and maintenance on Highway 30.
"I feel good about it I feel like i'm doing something for the people," said Phillips.
The one percent sales tax will continue to support the roads improvements for the nest two decades.
