Billy Cannon released from hospital after stroke
BATON ROUGE - LSU football legend Billy Cannon left the hospital today after treatment for a stroke, according to the university's athletic department.
Spokesperson Herb Vincent said Cannon's family told him the former Heisman winner was on his way home. He was rushed to the hospital Tuesday from Angola Prison, where he works as a dentist and served for 15 years as director of their medical operations.
Cannon won the Heisman in 1959 and played for the American Football League. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2008.
