A bill to create the crime of cyberbullying now goes to the house floor. The proposed law, sponsored by Rep. Roy Burrell, defines cyberbullying as communication meant to harm or embarrass another person.
Penalties for a first offense would be $500, up to six months in jail, or both. Second and third offenses would have steeper penalties.
