Bill Clinton to campaign with Sen. Mary Landrieu
BATON ROUGE - Former President Bill Clinton, the Democratic Party's most popular surrogate this fall, is heading to Louisiana early next week for a campaign rally with U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu.
Landrieu's campaign hopes Clinton's visit to Baton Rouge on Monday will boost support for the three-term Democratic incumbent heading into the start of early voting Tuesday. The election is Nov. 4.
The rally will be held at the downtown Hilton hotel.
This is Clinton's second visit to Louisiana for Landrieu, who is locked in a tight re-election battle and targeted for ouster by Republicans seeking to regain control of the Senate. Her main GOP opponents are U.S. Rep. Bill Cassidy and tea party favorite Rob Maness. Clinton was the special guest at a New Orleans fundraiser for Landrieu in early September.
