BATON ROUGE- Louisiana Secretary of State Tom Schedler would have more options to manage museums in a bill approved by a Senate committee.
Proposed budget cuts are forcing him to consider changes or even closure of some facilities. 17 museums fall under Schedler's control.
Other changes approved the committee would allow his office to take private money and money from local governments to keep the museums operating.
The two largest museums are the Old State Capitol and the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum in Shreveport.
