Big announcement expected from Edwin Edwards
BATON ROUGE - Former La. Gov. Edwin Edwards will announce today whether or not he will again seek public office.
Many expect him to enter into the race for the 6th District Congressional seat. That is the spot currently held by Congressman Bill Cassidy, but will be vacated as he tries to unseat Mary Landrieu from the Senate.
Edwards is set to speak at the Press Club of Baton Rouge around 11:30 a.m. this morning. Coincidentally, Edwards announced his candidacy for governor at the Press Club in the 1970's. Since he is a convicted felon, he can not run for state office, but is still eligible for a federal job.
WBRZ will have coverage of Edwards' possible announcement on our sister station WBTR and will also stream live online at WBRZ.com. Plus, tune in to WBRZ News2 at Noon for more information.
