Bids received for St. Tammany crime lab
SLIDELL- Five contractors have submitted bids on the proposed new St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office crime lab facility.
The Times-Picayune reports the sheriff's office has 30 days to decide whether to accept the lowest bid. Officials say McMath Construction, LLC of Mandeville, submitted the lowest bid of $8.34 million on Thursday.
Plans for the proposed facility behind the agency's Slidell complex include a new 23,666-square-foot crime lab, a small shooting range, a new major crimes unit and a renovation of a small section of the sheriff's office current space.
Sheriff Jack Strain has said the crime lab is his priority and that he only would move forward with the other projects if money were available.
