An LSU graduate student was hit by a vehicle this morning on River Road near Brightside Drive.
The incident occurred around 8:00a.m.
We're told one person riding his bike was hit by a vehicle that subsequently left the scene.
The bicyclist has been identified by State Police as Michael Bitton, 33, of Baton Rouge.
Bitton is a graduate student in Geography. He sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken by Acadian Ambulance to Baton Rouge General (Bluebonnet) Hospital.
State Police tell us the model of the car that fled the scene is believed to be a 2005-2006 model Toyota Tundra or 2005-2007 Sequoia. The truck is missing a right front headlight, bug deflector and probably has some body damage to the vehicle.
