Bicyclist dead after being struck by 18-wheeler
BATON ROUGE – Baton Rouge Police Traffic Homicide is investigating a deadly crash involving a bicyclist and an 18-wheeler in Baton Rouge Thursday.
According to BRPD, an 80-year-old Elwyn Pate was riding a bicycle northbound in the southbound lane of Plank Road when he was struck by an 18-wheeler turning onto Plank Road from Byron Street around 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
Investigators say the man died on the scene. No charges are expected to be filed against the driver of the 18 wheeler. The crash is still under investigation.
