Beco Road Bridge closed for repairs
ST. AMANT - Parish officials said they're closing the Beco Road bridge in Ascension Parish for repairs starting Monday afternoon.
Parish President Tommy Martinez said the bridge which crosses the New River Canal at the intersection of Weber City Road will be closed indefinitely starting at 2 p.m. Monday.
Martinez said the Department of Transportation and Development took a look at the bridge and made a decision this morning that it needed to close immediately. Contractors will decide what structural work needs to be done, after which Martinez said they'd announce a timetable to get the bridge back open.
Alternate routes include Savoy Road and Daniel Guidry Road.
