Beauty queen busted for being a fraud
RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA- A woman who was videotaped walking the runway in a beauty pageant was busted for fraud because she was collecting workers' comp benefits after claiming she had a broken toe.
The California State Department of Insurance says Shawna Lynn Palmer claimed she broke her toe while working in a grocery store.
A doctor gave her crutches and an orthopedic shoe and she collected workers' compensation payments.
But then she was videotaped walking in high heels, apparently without discomfort, while competing for the title of Miss Toyota at the Long Beach Grand Prix.
She was charged with defrauding an insurance company posted her $5,000 bail to get out of jail.
