DERIDDER - The Beauregard Parish Police Jury didn't properly review financial records and deposited $1.7 million in various accounts but didn't record the money in the general ledger, according to a report by the state legislative auditor's office.
The report also says parish officials failed to properly record federal grant money and couldn't account for $29,000 after they reconciled payroll liability accounts.
The audit, conducted by accountant J. Aaron Cooper, looked at the year ending Dec. 31, 2012, The American Press reports.
