"Beat the Heat" campaign
BATON ROUGE- A former basketball player is planning to help elderly people throughout the state cope with the hot and humid Louisiana summer. James "Big Brown" Joseph is giving out free air conditioning units and fans to those in need. It's part of his "Beat the Heat" campaign.
Joseph encourages people to get involved with the campaign by donating or purchasing fans and air conditioning units at the Walmart in New Roads. If you would rather donate you can make a donation to Baton Rouge area foundation. The name of the organization is "Big Brown Reaching Back."
Once all of the donations are in, Joseph drives around and hand-delivers and installs the air conditioning units to people in need.
If you have any questions about how to get involved with the campaign you can reach Big Brown at 225-931-2813.
