BAYOU CORNE - A massive sinkhole in Bayou Corne got even bigger overnight, and there are more reports of bubbling in the bayou.
The sinkhole grew on the southwest side of the sinkhole near the Texas Brine facility. Residents in the area have been under a mandatory evacuation since August, and some say they're not coming back when the all-clear is given.
"I'll never feel safe here anymore, because the sinkhole is getting bigger and they're coming up with poisonous gas," said Duane Bier.
Some residents want Texas Brine to buy them out, and Assumption Parish officials are backing that call.
"Many of the residents have been evacuated for over 120 days and looking for some closure to move on with their lives," said Assumption Parish OEP Manager John Boudreaux.
Texas Brine says it's not ready to consider buyouts, but it's something it will look at in the future.
