Bayou Corne residents waiting for answers

BAYOU CORNE - The Bayou Corne sinkhole isn't showing any signs of relief.

Saturday it burped up vegetation and got even bigger. More tests are being done to get answers to what caused the sinkhole and other things happening around it.

Crews are scheduled to begin work on a three-dimensional image of the massive sinkhole in Bayou Corne. Starting this week, workers will begin using a device that will send vibrations underground. The data collected should provide answers, but not any time soon.

"it makes us feel very insecure that we don't have any answers. I mean they're just testing without any answers to anything," said Patricia Ruiz.

Assumption Parish officials say waiting for answers makes their job challenging.

"As of right now we can give them what we know and a lot of it is, we don't know," said Assumption Parish Emergency Preparedness Manager, John Boudreaux.

Two community meetings are scheduled for Jan. 30 and Fab. 5 to discuss the latest activity surrounding the sinkhole.
