BATON ROUGE - Authorities in Canada are searching for a Baton Rouge senior last seen aboard a cruise ship.
Sarah Tessier Powell, 71, was last seen aboard a Holland America cruise ship leaving Boston, heading to Nova Scotia. The Baton Rouge native was reported missing by the ship's crew. Halifax Police believe Powell bypassed security, and intentionally did not return to the ship.
The ship docked in Charlottetown on Oct. 2, Sydney on Oct. 3 and Halifax on Oct. 4 before heading to U.S. ports. Police believe she could have disembarked at any of those locations.
Police do not suspect foul play in Powell's disappearance, but are concerned for her health.
"We're worried for Miss Powell because she needs medication, she may become disoriented or agitated without it," said Hilifax Police Officer Pierre Bourdages. "We're quite confident at this time that she walked off the ship and is somewhere in the area."
Powell is described as a five-foot-six thin, white female with brown hair.
Police are checking her bank accounts and credit card usage to try and track her down.
