Baton Rouge school to reopen in August
BATON ROUGE, La. - Students and faculty of Prescott Middle School will return to the campus in August after spending the year based at Istrouma High School.
Patrick Dobard, superintendent of the state-run Recovery School District, tells The Advocate he hopes enrollment will grow at the reopened school.
Enrollment now stands at about 200 students, down sharply from 2008 totals when Prescott Middle was operated by the East Baton Rouge Parish school system.
The RSD operates Prescott and six other schools in north Baton Rouge.
Dobard said repairs have been made to buildings on the Prescott campus while the students were in classes at Istrouma High.
